For any Metal/Power Metal fan, this band and album provides you with the right ingredients.

Tad Morose returned in 2013 with the unexpected release of 'Revenant'. With only one (truly) original member, that being founder of the band Christer "Krunt" Andersson, and with a history of ever changing line-ups, it was unapparent if they would ever return. But with the new line-up consisting of vocalist Ronny Hemlin, bassist Tommi Karppanen, guitarist Kenneth Jonsson and a drummer that has been a loyal member since 1994 in Peter Morén, Andersson can continue what he started back in 1991 with their brand new, eighth full-length album 'St. Demonius'.

'Bow To The Reapers Release' takes you by surprise, it was not what was expected. Being more melodic has definitely worked in their favour. Hemlin is vocally engaging and gives the album, and also the band as a whole, character. 'Forlorn' contains a tremendously satisfying and dirty opening riff but there seems to something missing, it just needed to go up one notch to provide that supporting drive to guitars.

The album is unfussy and modest and makes for an excellently easy listen. During 'Where Ignorance Reigns' they use simple layers to create different textures with the use of growling backing vocals, clean and distorted guitar and an ever changing tempo. The track takes a halt with guitars and vocals, there is hesitation for the climax which is a well received solo. Sadly the song carries through for an extra two minutes coming back in for another verse and chorus; how about an anti-climax, it seems to fall flat and reverts back to a steady drive.

The melodies in some of the tracks are in need of an adrenaline shot to give them that boost and thrill that any Metal music fan craves. 'Black Fire' is the track that peaks and gives the album that shot! The record's production is weighty and bold; rhythmically it is impressive and this is an exceedingly strong aspect and one that is very potent to the listener.

For any Metal/Power Metal fan, this band and album provides you with the right ingredients. However, it does have a smidgeon of the "Meatloaf syndrome" in terms of not knowing when to stop and sometimes this brings an anti-climax to the end of the song that has already done its job.
