Another fine musical pleasure trip from Mark and Michael.
Since the critically acclaimed debut of Mark Sweeney's & Michael Voss's project Wolfpakk, the duo haven't been sitting idly by. No, they are about to strike once again!
'Cry Wolf' is their second sortie. Another 'who's who' collection of musicians have been assembled by these two leading wolves. A spectacular effort this is. This release marks the breaking of new ground by Mark and Michael. Careful not to repeat their journey of 2011 – 'Cry Wolf' is a brand new musical plateau! Among the stellar line-up, Tony Carey; keyboardist for Rainbow guests on the only cover song, 'Run With The Wolf' from Rainbow's 'Rising' album.
According to the promo of AFM; 'Cry Wolf' follows in the same vein as the debut – however I beg to differ. This second effort, as previously mentioned, breaks new ground. Yes, Michael and Mark have written and produced 'Cry Wolf' just as they did the debut, but this time out, the similarities end there. In comparison, the debut was quite cinematic and followed a more symphonic concept approach. 'Cry Wolf' is a collection of stand-alone and stand out individual compositions. Pieces that are of a harder edge and more straight-forward Rock!
Amongst those assembled, we have Doogie White, Tony Mills, Mandy Meyer, Don Airey, and Brian Tichy. These musical maestros and many others lend their musical prowess ensuring that this album rocks with all cylinders popping! A constant adrenalin boost, a Hard Rock masterpiece, 'Cry Wolf' displays the pack leaders massive talent in song writing and production. The arrangements and performances are spot on. A virtual hard-rock orchestra has been created. Songs like 'A Matter Of Time' and 'Dark Revelation' pulsate. The beautiful ballad 'Cold Winter' is absolutely breathless at times!
This is another fine musical pleasure trip from Mark and Michael...two masters of their craft. "Cry Wolf" – you certainly can...and do so loudly!
