Apparently this album was recorded in guitarists Paul Hurst's living room with duvets hanging from the walls to not only help the sound but to provide a makeshift vocal booth. Fair play as the end result is a very enjoyable bunch of songs, lots of rock and pop and plenty of “T Rex” grooves. Liverpool is pretty famous for throwing up the odd band here and there and these 4 chaps are no exception, from the groove laden “Star River” to the insanely catchy “Shake”. A real coup for the group was catching legendary engineer and producer Mike Fraser of AC/DC fame who lent a hand with the sound in his Vancouver studio, how they managed that, was some achievement. The Beatles influence is very obvious on the psychedelic “Ocean of River” which ebbs and flows and is one of the best tracks on the album. The press release for “The Big Rock n Roll Show” states “No filler just killer” and they have a valid point. Even “Studio 54” with its slinky hip style funk and whoop whoop back up vocals is a track worthy of mention just for the smile on your face when you play it.
