Tarchon Fist leave us rhyming ancient mariners, counting the minutes to midnight and playing our aces high.

In the latest part of our 'History With Fireworks' series, we'll be discussing the Etrurian region in Italy, known to have existed from prior to 700 BC through to when it was enveloped into the Roman Empire, and which in modern days encompasses areas such as Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria. One of the earliest Etrurian heroes was Tarchon who would later be crowned king and then raised to the status of God Of Storm. However, on this occasion we discover him facing an 'Apocalypse' in one of the oldest battles known to man – good versus evil. According to Tarchon Fist, the present-day, Italian-based, modern-influenced NWOBHM narrators of this tale, "Nobody is born bad. Nobody good. Personal choices lead us towards the former or the latter. And although there cannot be one without the other, it still seems that evil takes root more easily in our soul. It is always evil that "makes the first move"." Heady stuff I think you'll agree, so let us investigate in greater detail...

It's clear from the offset that this Italian-based story of myth and legend has clear links to Egypt from around the time of the Iron Maiden and its 'Powerslave' opus with a mid-paced determination steering much of the intention. The lead vocaliser, one Mirko "Ramon" Ramondo, is proud to possess the hallowed siren of the air-raid, although he can often be found in a more controlled situation. Looking to rekindle the spirit of such an influential epoch is a challenge many have tried yet few have made a success of, but to Ramondo's credit he sounds thoroughly convincing as he takes on such a dangerous voyage. Therefore, it may not be a monumental leap to discover that Tarchon Fist have at their disposal a twin axe attack and galloping rhythm section. Closer inspection can also reveal an occasional window into the days of AC/DC and when both the guns and the roses triumphed over all, but in essence whether using their 'Last Human Strength', proclaiming they are 'Titans Of The Forest' or rather bizarrely stating they are 'Proud To Be Dinosaurs', Tarchon Fist leave us rhyming ancient mariners, counting the minutes to midnight and playing our aces high. Thankfully, with 'Apocalypse' they are doing so in a manner much more sure-footed than many of the more celebrated exponents of this style.
